Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement Level 3 (CAVA). ELCAS Approved
Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA – formally A1) is intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in a workshop, classroom or other training environment rather than assessing competence in a work environment. Learners must achieve 15 credits from three mandatory units to be awarded the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement:
- Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
- Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding
- Assess occupational competence in the work environment

Distance learning – This course can be completed as a distance learning course. This is the best option for individuals studying on their own, we can support you to achieve your qualification either fast track or at a pace that suits you.
You will need Zoom for the 3 days lesson based that will be with your tutor.
Blended – This is where we can mix the way the course is delivered to suit your business needs, making it as cost effective and as efficient as possible with true flexibility.
Who this qualification is for:
This qualification is suitable for those who assess progress in their work environment. The course provides the student with the knowledge, skills and understanding of how to assess occupational and vocational competence in the work environment, as well as underpinning the principles and practices of assessment.
There must be evidence of the trainee assessor carrying out at least two assessments of two learners (four assessments in total). This occupational competence must not be in assessment itself. In other words, evidence for this unit must not come from the trainee assessing another trainee assessor who, in turn, is assessing someone else. In gathering evidence for these qualifications, an unqualified trainee assessor is not allowed to assess competence in another unqualified assessor.
Course Entry requirements:
There are no specific entry requirements however, learners should have a minimum of Level 2 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent. This course is suitable for learners 18 years of age and above.
