Weekly Maritime Summary 15 - 22 July 2019
The Securewest Global Response Centre (GRC) recorded four maritime related incidents, two were robberies, one attack and one General Security Warning issued by United Kingdom Marine Trade Operations (UKMTO) during the reporting period between 15-22 July 2019.
- 16-July-2019 - Robbery - Tug Boat SUNG FATT 31 and SUNG FATT 35 underway in the westbound lane of the Singapore Strait.
- 19-July-2019 - General Security Warning - United Kingdom Marine Trade Operations (UKMTO) relating to the boarding of the Liberian vessel which was allowed to continue on its route and the seizure of the British-Flagged vessel STENA IMPERO by the Iranian Republican Guards. The vessel was then taken to an anchorage in Iran.
- 22-July-2019 - Attack - MV was boarded in position 08 28 00 N, 013 28 00 W, 16 nm W of Port of Freetown, Sierra Leone.
- 22-July-2019 - Robbery - MV CK BUEBELL was robbed in the Singapore Strait.
Attack: An incident where weapons are discharged by pirates or pirate paraphernalia such as ladder, grappling hook, make contact with the vessel.
Robbery: Theft from a vessel or from persons aboard the vessel.
General Security Warning: Incidents which do not fit in the other categories, but enhance the situational awareness, e.g. flag state advisories or an attack on a non- commercial vessel such as a warship.
