Weekly Maritime Summary 13 – 19 April 2020

The Securewest Global Response Centre (GRC) recorded eight maritime related incidents during the reporting period of 13 – 19 April 2020:

Maritime incidents

  • 13-Apr-20 – Robbery – An anchored container ship was robbed in position 14 36 06 N, 120 52 16 E, Manila anchorage, Philippines
  • 14-Apr-20 – Boarding – An anchored MV was boarded by armed personnel in position 25 41 00 N, 056 59 00 E, approximately 42nm W of Bandar E Jask, Iran
  • 14-Apr-20 – Robbery – an MV was attacked and robbed at Ciudad Del Carmen Anchorage, Mexico
  • 16-Apr-20 – Robbery – A VLCC was robbed in position 02 29 30 N,105 05 48 E, approximately 40 nm SW of Anambas Island, Indonesia
  • 16-Apr-20 – Robbery – A bulk carrier was robbed in position 01 14 57 N, 104 06 19 E approximately 3.7 nm north of Nongsa Point, Pulau Bantam
  • 15-Apr-20 – Boarding – An MV was boarded in position 04 54 39 N, 001 41 43 W at Takoradi Anchorage, Ghana
  • 16-Apr-20 – Robbery – An MV was boarded and robbed in position 04 52 43 N, 001 41 01 W approximately 3nm E of Takoradi, Ghana
  • 19-Apr-20 – Attack – An MV was attacked in position 06 17 00 N, 002 32 00 E, in the vicinity of the Cotonou Port, Benin

Key:

Maritime AttackAttack – An incident where weapons are discharged by pirates or pirate paraphernalia such as ladder, grappling hook, make contact with the vessel
Boarding IncidentBoarding: Unauthorized boarding of a vessel by persons not part of its complement without successfully taking control of the vessel
Robbery IncidentRobbery – Theft from a vessel or from persons aboard the vessel
